Journos Beaten Up On Sets Of Akshay – Rajinikanth's Robot 2.0, Director Shankar Apologizes

Couple of photo journalists were beaten up on the sets of Robot 2.0 which stars Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth in the lead roles. The news went viral. So much so that director Shankar has finally apologized for the misbehavior of his crew members.

The whole incident happened in Triplicane, where major portions of the movie are being shot. The journalists, Raghunathan and Sri Barath, alleged that a key intersection in the city was blocked to facilitate shoot for the film, which was causing a lot of problem to the public.

Speaking to a leading daily Raghunath said, "When we asked if it was proper to inconvenience public by blocking roads especially during (morning) peak hour, two crew members used foul language against us and we were beaten up," He also said that fellow journalist Barath was badly beaten up by some members of the crew. "We have lodged a joint complaint and have sought appropriate action," he said while speaking to the daily.

Generally when a movie is shot in a densely populated area, necessary permissions from the government have to be taken beforehand. However, these journalists claim that the crew of the film manipulated the permissions given to suit their convenience. The police then filed an FIR.

A few minutes ago, director Shankar has spoke up. He apologized while speaking to another local daily. He said, "I am sorry. I shall ensure incidents like this don't repeat. It has happened without my knowledge."

The police however have said that they will make necessary arrests if it warrants in the case.

This is the first collaboration between Akshay and Rajinikanth. The film is a sequel to the blockbuster hit Robot (2010), and is set to hit theatres this Diwali.
